Thesis statement: How to use various teaching methods to stimulate the pupil’s interest in Englishlearning.

Abstract: In recent 20 years, English teaching steps into a new stage in our country. More and more children begin to study English. So there is an urgent need to implement interest-activated in English teaching accordance with the present situation of our country. The article holds that “interest is the best teacher.” And it is very important to improve the interest of pupils.

Ⅰ. Introduction
It is well known that the Engilsh language has become a universal language and is far more widespread than any other one .It is the language used for international communication trade and commerce which makes it as a very important and indispensable tool in this age of globalisation.In recent 20 years,English teaching step into a new stage in our country.More and more children become to study English.As a result of this actuality. English Language Teaching attending primary school can also mean first in the sense of basic or fundamental.Consequently,it is necessary to research a advanced teaching methods that adopt pupils in China .The linguist generally accepted that children between four to seven years old is the best time to learn English.During this early stage.They are full of curiosity,have sharp hearing,tend to imitate. love saying and moving ,eager to emulate,they can easily take active interest in learning English.Therefore,to develope the interest in learning this new language seemed to be very important.
II. To summarize interest
We can go on from here with the words of Einstein :"interest is the best teacher.'And as is commonly accepted, interest is the key to success.To explain in psychological terms,Interest is--the individual give activities ,objects a positive attitude or a tendency selection attitude and emotion.(Zhu Peili1994.5 )Everyone shold pay attention priority to things which he/she have interesting and explore actively . Then demonstrate fascinating.For example,if a person interested in dancing, he would seek opportunities to participate in dance actively and feel happy ,relaxed and fun, show a positive and voluntarily when doing that.Interest is not only to concern the superficial of things , it is contact with emotional and awareness of people.When you have no cognition of one thing,you will not have feelings, and therefore, will not be interested in it.On the contrary, understanding more profound, emotion richer, the interest is also deeper. The interest for a person's individuality development,Has the huge function to a person's life and the activity.Chain-born American Professor Ding Zhaozhong once said: Any scientific research, needs the interest importantly.It may make the human to concentrate the energy to obtain the knowledge,And complete the current activity creatively,development the intellect,enrich the knowledge,open the vision.
The interest has distinction .People in different environment, social class, or have the different position, cultural level ,their interest and hobby is dissimilar.(Zhu Peili1994.5 ).Age can have a direct influence to human's interest.The elementary school is a precise time which is the formation of emotion.This stage childred's learning activity have the emotionalism tendency to a great extent .When the children have the strong interest to study,Not only can have the emotion migration, but also can cause the attention centralized and lasted.Study and contact ability improve rapidly.Therefore, when we explor the interesting education ,we must stimulate and raise the interest of learning English. According to educational psychologists, interest of learning is the most direct element to influence the students or even their learning efficiency (Yang Xiuzhen, 1996). The elementary student once have the strong interest of a subject,along with it can stimulate the desire of seeking knowledge,Thus aware to study.English teaching has its particularity of various subject teaching in the elementary school .Then as an English teacher,How should we contact their psychological characteristic to stimulate their interest?
III To improve the Interest of Pupils in learning English
A Confidence,develop the enthusiasm and interest of student.
When a child begin to learn English , they are full of curiosity. If teachers can mastery this feature ,to be correct guidance,and this is wonderful to build the confidence of young students .Then could obtain good results .When studying,the importence is to make students know why should we learn English?And encourage every student actively.Just as the famous English teaching experts Mwest said "foreign language is student to learn, rather than the teacher to teaching ,as an English teacher
" We should not only lead the students "learn well", but lead them, "well learn" more importantly .For example : teachers would encourage students have the conversation to theri friends, parents, teachers and other students in English . We'll create easy,practical English atmosphere for students to speak English. They will conpuer their fear of learning.Then build the confidence. Gradually,they're not afraid to speak and use their English , The interest of learnig English shoud be developed.
B . Use various teach methods, to stimulate interest.
1 . Using real object, initiate interest.
In early stage of language training should use real object in our daily life adequately.Learn their name, describes their shape, color, nature, the use and so on.Enable the student to grasp English language and skill in a relaxed atmosphere.Because these objects close to student's life,The student have interested in that specially.When teaching the name of the stationery ,Let the student put out the pencil box fristly,Then the teacher put out a pen and say :"a pen ".put out two pens secondly, and say:"two pens".repeat several times ,tell the student also take the pen and say like teacher.It is easy to remember this word.For another example :put the pencil box in the bag, kinds of color pencil, books, knife and so on. Then train sentence like that:1.What is in the bag?2.There is/are……in it.3.Is there a pencil--box in the bag?4.Arethere any pencils in the box?What colour are they?these object are colorfully and vividly.They will concentrate their attention on what they are studying.these words are engraved upon their memory
2 . Use performance to arose interest .
Guiding students on the basis of text to performance the course .S. M. Silvers says "a break from the monotony of drilling" or frivolous activities. He also claims that many teachers often overlook the fact that in a relaxed atmosphere, real learning takes place, and students use the language they have been exposed to and have practised earlier (1982:29).Primary English teaching materials designed many article,Which are very close to our lives.
For instance,Greeting
“hello,how are you”
“I am fine ,thank you and you?”
“I am fine too ,thank you”
“Nice to meet you”
And introduce their family ,My family lives in x x x .My father is businessman,his name is xxx”
Such content could use this methods .To creat some interesting scenes is very important in teaching .When teaching the dialogue "in the restaurant Before the class prepare milk, orange juice, bananas, bread,... and set out on the class.Podium just became restaurant counter. Teachers waiters play students play customers.
If customers want to drink ,theywould say : " Could I have some bottles of orange/ pear juice(milk)?”
Waiter show this kind of of food and answer :“OK。”
C-----"How many would you like?”
W-----“Three。”
C-----“Here you are。"
W-----“Thank you。”
Performance one time , the teacher use the oher word which has studied to repeat this sentential form.The process of performance also is the process of practice.This exercise a few times, the students in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere grasp the new sentence unconsciously .this way also can used on making a(phone)call , asking the way, visiting the doctor such dialog of daily communication .On this way, Not only stimulate the interest in learning but also help students to improve the ability of using English.
3 . Using games to maintain interest.
Single teaching method is boring. Even a good way,if we use it regularly, it will lose interesting. therefore maintain interest is very important. Games play a key role in children's study .Play the game in classroom, coupled with competition and stimulation, let students study in a relaxed and happy environment.Many experienced textbook and methodology manuals writers have argued that games are not just time-filling activities but have a great educational value. W. R. Lee holds that most language games make learners use the language instead of thinking about learning the correct forms (1979:2). He also says that games should be treated as central not peripheral to the foreign language teaching programme. A similar opinion is expressed by Richard-Amato, who believes games to be fun but warns against overlooking their pedagogical value, particularly in foreign language teaching.Games have been shown to have advantages and effectiveness in learning English in various ways. First,games usually involve friendly competition and they keep learners interested.Second, games bring in relaxation and fun for students, thus help them learn and retain new words more easily.These create the motivation for learners of English to get involved and participate actively in the learning activities. Third, games bring real world context into the classroom, and enhance students' use of English in a flexible, communicative way.
IV Teacher plays an important part in the function of improving intrerest of students.
A. A good teacher plants the love of learning in students.
Broadly speaking, the function of teachers is to help students learn by imparting knowledge to them and by setting up a situation in which students can and will learn effectively.To stimulate the student's interest in learning English ,the determining factor is interaction between teachers and students. Therefore ,teacher plays an important part in the function of improving intrerest of students.Teachers must have a high morality,esthetic sentiment , and the skills of organization.Teachers must delve into books , explore the emotional and fun factor of school textbook .According different teaching content , design and use different teaching methods, based on different teaching methods to design different teaching activities, according to different teaching activities produce different teaching aids and props, use the best picture, music, situational dialogs and game to achieve a better results in teaching.
B, Have a good relationship between teacher and student .
As the old saying goes : "Close the teacher then love learning" .The student' interest have a very great relation with their teacher.Especially pupils,If they admire a teacher, they would fancy his lesson,then have the inrerest in learning English.In teaching ,"love" is very important.It's the keys to success. Therefore,we should love our students heart and soul.To establish an environment which full of trust, respect, help,solidify.Make the student from love the teacher to love English . from"bald learn" to "joy learn".
C。 What shold the teacher do.
Firstly,teaching makes learning as a life long process possible. . As everyone knows, if you want to give your student a bowl of water, you should own a bucket of water. we should have a good knowledge of English, because as long as we have mastered English very well, we can be equal to becoming true teachers. English knowledge is very important in teaching. If we are good at it, we are able to teach us students very clearly and well. We have to try our best to improve our skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Secondly, Especially treat pupils , We ought to become motherly and fatherly teachers,In our work, we have to love our students just as we love our sons and daughters. Our students should be taken good care of. We should care about their study and lives patiently.
Thirdly, we should be strict with ourselves. No matter what we will ask our students to do, we must do it well first. For example, if we require them not to be late for class, we mustn’t be late.Honesty is very important to everyone, including teachers. We should always keep promise and never tell lies. We should be brave and honest to point out our mistakes. There aren’t people who never make mistakes. If we can recognize and correct our mistakes in time, our students will accept us and believe us.
Conclusion
Learning English ,To develop an interest is first step in learning English .As an English teacher ,we must pay attention to improve children'interest consciously. We are not able to change the examination system, but we can improve our teaching method. we have to use some new teaching methods of schoolwork assignment that provided students with some new activities ,then make them love english ,have a good foundation for future learning. Low-grade English teaching is still in the initial stage, and here an immense wait educators to explore, to study.Today's children will be tomorrow's backbone of our society .So now we should let English to approach each child.
